THE Tetcott meeting has attracted a total of 149 entries for their fixture at Vauterhill next Sunday (11th May).

The Open Mares Maiden gets the meeting under way at 1.0’clock and presents a winning opportunity for the highly promising Cool Friend, who has finished runner up in her two races this season.

Cookies Bank comes into the Confined having just been touched off in Open company at the Axe Vale and can give Richard Woollacott another winner.

Whizzaar and Long Night look the form picks in the Men’s Open. Whizzaar won a hunter ‘chase in good style at Newton Abbot recently, and Long Night looked to be regaining his best form when third to subsequent Lady Dudley Cup hero Cottage River at Barbury Castle early last month.

Richard Barber holds the key to the Ladies’ Open. The flying grey Rimpton Boy could not be opposed if seeking his sixth successive win of the season, and the yard has an able deputy in Spuddler’s Dream, as stable jockey Rachael Green seeks to cut back Polly Gundry’s lead in the Ladies’ title race.

Fruitfull Citizen’s third in a recent hunter ‘chase at Taunton gives him an outstanding chance in the Intermediate for Novice Riders’ where Major Matt appeals as the main danger.

The Restricted looks very competitive with 34 entries. A number of promising youngsters could line up, including Axe Vale winners Diflock and Tres Bien. Polly Gundry can choose between Benarina and Il Marinaio, and other recent winners to enter calculations include Hardknott, Just Here, Primitive Quest and Tandori.

The 33 entries for the Open Maiden means a division. Global Party would probably have won at the Stevenstone but for falling at the second last, and features in the first section alongside the consistent Max’s Choice. Classic Rarity has been runner up in his last two races and deserves his winning turn in the second division.

The course at Vauterhill is near High Bickington which is 2 miles SW of Umberleigh, just off the B3217.
